Those nominations not announced on CBS are to be announced on the Tony Awards YouTube channel at 9 a.m. The nominations were chosen by a group of 44 individuals, generally expert on theater (many of them are artists or arts administrators) but with no financial stake in any of the eligible shows. The nominators are required to see all eligible shows (there were 36 this season); the committee started with 60 people, but got smaller as members recused themselves because they missed a show or developed a conflict of interest.

Another key component was DNA from a living descendant of Samuel Washington. Samuel Washington, George Washington's younger brother, was buried in an unmarked grave at the cemetery at his Harewood estate (an interior view is pictured above) near Charles Town, West Virginia. Fortunately for the authors of the new study, “DNA analysis has come a long way since the early 2000s,” Cavagnino said. Further details came from 95,000 SNPs, an enormous volume of data targeting autosomal DNA (DNA that isn’t attached to sex chromosomes). “The search for Samuel Washington’s grave is no longer underway,” Marshall said.

Considering how frequently the cinema has co-opted the iconography of the Church—often enough for ghoulish purposes—something like “Mysteries of the Faith” suggests an opportunity for clarity, inspiration and, God knows, maybe a little debunking. Mysteries of the Faith Wednesday, NetflixAs our breathless narrator David Harewood says, “Belief in the power of relics is as old as faith itself” and, similarly, facts have had little to do with belief in the relics covered in this four-part series—which include the Crown of Thorns at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, the Holy Face of Jesus in Manoppello, Italy, and the fragments of the True Cross at the Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro. All have been associated with purported miracles, and even received the imprimatur of the Vatican. But if one is seeking a peek into secret Church history, or the Almighty’s intervention on Earth, one’s prayers may go unanswered.
